Considering the potential of Nanotechnology, accordingly the International Conference NANOCON 010 with theme "Nano Technology-Materials and Composites for Frontier Applications" was conducted by Bharati Vidyapeeth University in association with North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University Greensboro, USA, Tuskegee University Alabama, USA and Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET), Dept. of Information Technology (Govt. of India) during October 14-15, 2010 at Pune, India. The objective of the conference was to bring together the experts from Academia, Industry and R & D Institutes from India and abroad to interact, deliberate, disseminate and exchange ideas, share knowledge, and develop a common vision for the future in the field of Nanotechnology. The conference was inaugurated by the hands of the Chief Guest Hon' Shri. Prithviraj Chavan, former Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Govt. of India and currently Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This conference was graced by Dr.Venkatesan Renugopalakrishnan, Professor, Harvard University, Boston, USA, and Dr. James Ryan, Director, Joint School of Nano Science and Nano Technology (JSNN), USA as the Guest of Honors. Chief Patron for this Conference Dr. Patangrao Kadam, Hon Chancellor, Bharati Vidyapeeth University presided over the inaugural function. The function took place in the august presence of Patrons for the Conference Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, Hon Vice Chancellor, Bharati Vidyapeeth University and Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam, Hon Secretary, Bharati Vidyapeeth. The inaugural function also had the dignified presence of Dr. Ajit Kelkar, Prof. and Associate Director, Joint School of Nano Sciences and Nano Technology, NCA&T State University, USA, Dr. Shaik Jeelani, Vice President, Tuskegee University, Alabama, USA, Prof. Daniel Davis, Esteemed Professor, University of Huston, USA and Dr. Dinesh Amalnerkar, Executive Director, Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology, Pune. In addition, the plenary speech of this conference was delivered via video conferencing by Nobel Laureate Dr. Harry Kroto. NANOCON 010 was a great success as it received an overwhelming response and participation from all strata of society. Total 100 technical papers were received, out of which 36 papers were from reputed international universities. Participants for this conference were from countries like the USA, the UK, Canada, Malaysia, Chile, Iran, France, S. Korea and India. Selected research papers presented in the conference were published in Interna tional Journa ls of Nano sciences & Nanotechnology, Journal of Bionanoscience and Advanced Science Letter after peer review.
